Day 58 of 365

The Cost of Discipleship

Matthew 16:24-25

Matthew 16:24-25

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.'”

Insight

Following Jesus costs something. It might cost comfort, popularity, money, relationships, or security. But what you gain infinitely surpasses what you give up. Jesus doesn't promise easy; He promises worth it. Real discipleship requires daily self-denial and willing sacrifice. But in losing your life for Him, you find true life - abundant, purposeful, eternal.

Reflection

What is following Jesus costing you right now? Are you willing to pay that cost, trusting that He's worth it?
