Day 57 of 365

Marriage Requires Work

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

Insight

Marriage isn't two people facing each other; it's two people facing the same direction with God in the center - a three-strand cord. Strong marriages don't happen by accident. They require intentionality: communication, forgiveness, service, prayer, date nights, counseling, and daily choices to love even when it's hard. The enemy attacks marriages; fight for yours.

Reflection

What's one practical way you can invest in your marriage this week? If you're single, what marriage principle can you apply to your current relationships?
