“Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.”
Insight
Ancient cities depended on walls for protection; without them, they were vulnerable to every enemy. Similarly, self-control protects us from destructive impulses, habits, and decisions. The Holy Spirit empowers us with self-control as part of His fruit (Galatians 5:23). It's not white-knuckled willpower but Spirit-enabled discipline that guards our hearts and lives.
