Day 175 of 365

Testing Every Spirit

1 John 4:1

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

Insight

Spiritual discernment isn't optional—it's commanded. Not every spiritual teaching is from God. Not every 'prophetic word' is true. Not every miracle worker is godly. Test everything against Scripture. Does it align with God's character and Word? Does it point to Jesus? Does it produce godly fruit? Don't be gullible or cynical—be discerning. Truth exists, and so do counterfeits. Learn to tell the difference.

Reflection

What teaching or spiritual experience have you accepted without testing it against Scripture? How can you grow in discernment?
