Supernatural Contentment

“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

Insight

Contentment isn't circumstantial—it's supernatural. Paul learned contentment through Christ's strength, not changed circumstances. Whether in need or plenty, hungry or fed, Paul was content because his satisfaction came from Christ, not conditions. This is the secret: Christ is enough. When you find your contentment in Him, circumstances lose their power over you. You can do all things—including being content in hardship—through Christ who strengthens you.
