Day 196 of 365

Running to God, Not From Him

Jonah 1:3

Jonah 1:3

“But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.”

Reflection

Jonah ran from God, but you can't outrun Him. When God calls you to something hard, your natural response is to run. But running from God never works. You'll end up in a storm, in a fish's belly, or worse. The safest place is obedience. When God calls, respond. When He directs, go. Don't run from God; run to Him. In obedience. In trust. In surrender. Running to God always leads somewhere better than running from Him.
