Peacemakers Not Peacekeepers

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
Insight
Peacemaking is different from peacekeeping. Peacekeepers avoid conflict at all costs. Peacemakers pursue reconciliation even when it's costly. Peacekeepers sweep issues under the rug. Peacemakers address issues directly with grace and truth. Jesus is called the Prince of Peace because He made peace between God and humanity through the cross. As His children, pursue peace through honest communication, quick forgiveness, and humble reconciliation.
Reflection
In what relationship are you avoiding conflict rather than pursuing peace? What would peacemaking - honest, grace-filled confrontation - look like in that situation?
