Day 157 of 365
The Cost of Following Jesus
Luke 14:27-28
Luke 14:27-28
“And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple. Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?”
Reflection
Jesus never promised easy - He promised worth it. Following Him costs something: comfort, popularity, security, control, and sometimes relationships. Before you commit, count the cost. But also count the reward: eternal life, purpose, peace, joy, and intimacy with God. The cost is real, but so is the reward. Many start following Jesus but quit when it gets hard because they didn't count the cost. Don't be surprised by sacrifice. Embrace it. The cost is high, but Jesus is worth it all.
