“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
Insight
Forgive as the Lord forgave you. This is the standard. He forgave completely, quickly, and sacrificially. You're called to do the same. Unforgiveness is poison. It doesn't hurt the offender; it destroys you. Forgiveness isn't excusing sin or forgetting wrongs—it's releasing the debt. You forgive not because they deserve it, but because you've been forgiven. The Lord's forgiveness of you should fuel your forgiveness of others.
