Day 263 of 365

Preserving Influence

Mark 9:50

Mark 9:50

“Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other.”

Insight

Salt that loses saltiness is worthless. You're called to be salt—preserving truth, flavoring culture, creating thirst for God. But you can lose your saltiness through compromise, worldliness, or hypocrisy. When that happens, you're useless for God's purposes. Guard your saltiness. Maintain your distinct character. Have salt among yourselves—be truthful, righteous, and loving with each other. Preserve your influence. Don't lose your saltiness.

Reflection

Are you maintaining your saltiness, or have you become too much like the world? How can you preserve your distinctive Christian influence?
