Day 30 of 365
The Ministry of Presence
Romans 12:15
Romans 12:15
“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.”
Reflection
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can offer is simply showing up. Not with answers, advice, or attempts to fix everything - just your presence. When someone is grieving, they don't need your theology about suffering. When someone is celebrating, they don't need your caution about pride. They need you to be present. To sit in the pain without rushing to resolution. To share the joy without stealing the spotlight. Jesus modeled this perfectly. He wept with Mary and Martha. He celebrated at the wedding in Cana. He was fully present in every moment. In our distracted, hurried culture, presence is rare and precious. Put down your phone. Make eye contact. Listen more than you talk. Let people feel seen and heard. Sometimes God's love is most tangible not in your words, but in your willingness to simply be there. Show up. Stay. That's ministry.
