Day 169 of 365

Putting Off the Old Self

Ephesians 4:22-24

Ephesians 4:22-24

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

Reflection

Transformation requires both putting off and putting on. Put off the old self - old patterns, old habits, old ways of thinking. But don't stop there. Put on the new self - new attitudes, new behaviors, new mindsets. You can't just stop sinning; you must start living righteously. Breaking bad habits requires building good ones. Putting off anger means putting on patience. Putting off lies means putting on truth. What old self pattern do you need to put off? What new self character do you need to put on?
