Day 107 of 365

Honoring Authority

Romans 13:1

Romans 13:1

“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.”

Reflection

Authority is difficult when you disagree with the person in charge. But God calls you to honor authority - not because leaders are perfect, but because God established the position. This includes government, employers, church leaders, and parents. Honoring authority doesn't mean blind obedience to evil. When authority asks you to sin, obey God. But when it's simply preferences or politics, honor the position even when you disagree with the person. Rebellion against authority is rebellion against God's order.
