Day 199 of 365

Suffering with Purpose

1 Peter 4:19

1 Peter 4:19

“So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.”

Insight

Sometimes suffering is part of God's will. This doesn't mean He causes it, but He allows it and uses it. When you're suffering according to God's will (not as consequence of sin), your response matters: commit yourself to your faithful Creator and keep doing good. Don't grow bitter. Don't stop obeying. Don't quit serving. Trust that God is faithful, even in suffering. Continue doing good, knowing that suffering isn't wasted when you're in God's will.

Reflection

Are you suffering according to God's will or as a consequence of sin? How are you responding to that suffering?
