Day 89 of 365

Learned Contentment

1 Timothy 6:6-8

1 Timothy 6:6-8

“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.”

Insight

Contentment isn't having everything you want; it's wanting what you have. Paul learned contentment in plenty and poverty. How? By finding satisfaction in Christ, not circumstances. Contentment is peace in the present while pursuing the future. It's gratitude for what is while hoping for what's coming. It defeats comparison, kills covetousness, and cultivates joy. Learn contentment. Practice gratitude.

Reflection

What would change if you practiced contentment with what you currently have? What are three things you have now that you once prayed for?
