Bearing Good Fruit

Matthew 7:17-18

Matthew 7:17-18

“Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.”

Insight

Fruit reveals the root. Your actions expose your heart. Good trees naturally produce good fruit; bad trees produce bad fruit. You can't fake fruit. If your life consistently produces anger, bitterness, gossip, and selfishness, the root is bad. If it produces love, joy, peace, and patience, the root is good. Jesus isn't impressed with religious appearances—He looks at fruit. The question isn't what you claim to believe, but what fruit your life produces.

Reflection

What fruit is your life producing? Is it good or bad? What does that reveal about the condition of your heart?
